Margaret is passionate about the healing capacity of the creative process. She enjoys meeting each individual client where they are and creating a safe, supportive environment to express and hold her clients’ emotions and experiences. Her approach to therapy is creative, trauma-informed, and client-centered, using art and play to guide clients toward healing. In therapy with Margaret, clients not only use their voices to communicate, but may use drawing, painting, clay, play, and even dance to facilitate difficult feelings in developmentally appropriate ways.
While Margaret is open to working with all ages and presenting issues, her experience is strongest with children and adolescents who have a history of trauma. Additionally, she has experience working with neurodivergence, transition, grief, depression, anxiety, and behavior issues. She has delivered individual therapy to diverse populations of children and adolescents in office, community, home, and school-based settings. She strives to create a collaborative relationship with the caregivers of her clients, offering support, guidance, and a nonjudgmental listening ear.
Margaret received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2019. The pandemic inspired her to enter graduate school to pursue a career in art therapy and she spent three years learning how to bring the therapeutic power of art to others. She was also trained in child-centered play therapy, and believes that both art and play are inherently healing human activities. Margaret received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Transpersonal Art Therapy from Naropa University in May 2024. She is working under supervision towards becoming licensed as a professional counselor and credentialed as a registered art therapist.
