Dylan encourages kids to explore. Discover emotions. Recognize relationship dynamics. Figure out what to do when they need to calm down. He lets kids express themselves how they need to and helps them create words for their feelings.
Dylan believes this world is for everybody and advocates for inclusion. Everyone has their own form of communication-whether through words, play, adaptive devices, or nonverbal expression. He meets clients’ needs to allow for expression and connection in ways that are most effective for them. Outside of sessions, his advocacy continues through teaching adaptive ski lessons and hiking with people with disabilities.
He incorporates components of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Synergetic Play Therapy into sessions to empower children to embrace who they are. He joins clients where they’re at in their emotional journey to create a supportive space for them to process, learn, and grow at a comfortable pace. He takes into account his own presence as a social learning opportunity while modeling what genuine, positive relationships can be like.
Dylan earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He became a Registered Behavior Technician during his undergraduate experience and spent six years providing both in-home and in-clinic ABA therapy services. Being in clients’ homes sparked his passion for working with kids and families. Having learned how each day may sometimes feel like its own adventure, he empathizes with each individual’s experiences. Dylan takes a collaborative approach to therapy allowing kids to lead their journey’s while also providing guidance for making their own social and emotional discoveries. He completed his Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver, including a clinical internship at Early Childhood Wellness Place before becoming a full-time member of the team.
